Welcome to the OCD Film Festival

Let's take a look at how OCD is portrayed in the film industry. Mr. Neatnick? Ms. Fussypot? Germophobe? How often do you hear "Oh, I'm so OCD!" followed by a chuckle? Aargh!

The OCD Film Festival was a special project of OCD TEXAS, an affiliate of the International OCD Foundation, that began in the weeks before and through OCD Awareness WeekOct 8-14, 2012. We are leaving it up through 2013 to help you raise awareness about OCD. We will likely run another OCD Film Festival, with an updated selection of films, in conjunction with OCD Awareness Week 2014. For more info, contact the OCD Film Festival Coordinator, Irene Tobis, at filmfest@ocdtexas.org.

Online:  We've selected feature films, shorts, and animated films, plus a TV show -- reviews are posted, by members of the OCD community, along with questions to kick off discussion. Let's have the important conversation about how we can begin to wash away the myths and stereotypes associated with this serious disorder.

Please see our  list of festival films -- and join in the discussion.

Onsite:  We also gathered for special film screenings -- around Texas and around the world -- during OCD Awareness Week 2012. We encourage you to host your own special OCD film events, large or small, wherever you may be.

Please help us get the word out -- Help us raise awareness, increase access to effective treatment, end stigma, and foster a community of advocacy and support for people with OCD, their families and friends, and treatment professionals. Forward a link to this page to anyone you think might be interested. And please visit us -- and like us! -- on Facebook and YouTube. Thanks!

  2. This event is valuable for everyone because like so many things, if it's not already in your life, it could appear around any corner - and being more thoughtful, prepared and educated would be the most helpful and kind hearted way to approach it. As Good As It Gets is full of love and a personal favorite.

  4. Very cool idea to bring together these films for a discussion of how OCD is portrayed in the media. I have found a great deal of variability in the ways that directors and actors approach characters with OCD, and (for better or worse) these films are what often educates society about the disorder.
